Changeless, Book 2, The Parasol Protectorate Series by Gail Carriger
Book 2: Changeless

Our heroine is back, and Alexia, previously Tarabotti, is now living and happily married to Lord Conall Maccon. She’s also the new muhjah and part of The Shadow Council which links the supernatural set with the crown of England.
This book got even more interesting than Soulless, with the new characters and particularly Madame Lefoux, who is absolutely my favorite! She’s your men-attire-wearing-French-hat-maker who just happens to be a brilliant scientist and inventor and is responsible for Alexia’s newly improved and highly efficient parasol.
Lord Maccon leaves without a good bye and Alexia is stuck at sorting out a supernatural set of soldiers who encamps on her lawn, and something mysterious that is neutralizing supernaturals; ghosts are being exorcised, vampires losing their fangs, and werewolves turning inexplicably human. Alexia, being who she is, and her known effect on the paranormal, is blamed for all this, and makes it her goal to find out what is really going on, and consequently finds herself, amidst her investigations, aboard a dirigible on her way to Scotland, where her husband, who just up and left without a word, just happens to be located.
I found myself laughing, giggling and truly immensed in this book, up until the very end, at which I was too shocked to do anything but start the third book immediately! Gail Carriger ends Changeless with such a cliffhanger that made me so glad the third book was already available!
